Hartland Day Academy is a 1st -12th day school that operates on the campus of Hartland College in Rapidan, Virginia. Our mission is to provide a comprehensive education to children of Seventh-day Adventist members residing in the community in and around Hartland Institute, at the elementary and secondary levels accordingly, based on the principles of the Bible and Spirit of Prophecy.
Our student body is composed of 5 staff children from the college and 14 students of families in the community that share our mission. The majority of our students are bilingual and English is their second language. Hartland Day Academy began as an educational service only for the staff children at Hartland Institute. Eventually, we started accepting students from parents in the community who share our vision. In 2016-2017, due to a request of a parent to have accreditation for the school, we got affiliated with Sycamore Academy. We are now accredited by EASEA and the National Council for Private School Accreditation (NCPSA). http://www.easea.org/our-schools/
Students have received a comprehensive education in various ways. In their classes, they are able to develop their presentation skills and learn practical ways to share the gospel. In the past, both elementary and high school students have applied their English grammar by publishing a quarterly newsletter. The high school students gain experience in the following vocational training sites in which they work closely with a supervisor: plant services, industrial kitchen services, health ministry training, and teacher’s assistants. We try to provide opportunities where the whole school can participate in community service events by assisting members of our community.
The Lord has blessed us in multiple areas. Every year we see how God continues to care and guide our School.
The fruits of the labor at Hartland Day Academy have been seen by students giving their hearts to God and several graduates continuing to cultivate the missionary spirit by serving God in the mission field.
